We are proud to present the ICSIIT 2007 invited speakers:
(David) Dagan Feng received his ME in Electrical Engineering & Computing Science (EECS) from Shanghai JiaoTong University in 1982, MSc in Biocybernetics and Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1985 and 1988 respectively. After briefly working as Assistant Professor at the University of California, Riverside, he joined the University of Sydney at the end of 1988, as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, Professor, Head of Department of Computer Science, Head of School of Information Technologies. He is currently Associate Dean (International IT) of Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney; Honorary Research Consultant, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the largest hospital in Australia; Chair-Professor of Information Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Advisory Professor, Shanghai JiaoTong University; Guest Professor, Northwestern Polytechnic University, Northeastern University and Tsinghua University. His research area is Biomedical & Multimedia Information Technology (BMIT). He is the Founder and Director the BMIT Research Group. He has published over 400 scholarly research papers, pioneered several new research directions, made a number of landmark contributions in his field with significant scientific impact and social benefit, and received the Crump Prize for Excellence in Medical Engineering from USA. More importantly, however, is that many of his research results have been translated into solutions to real-life problems and have made tremendous improvements to the quality of life worldwide. He is Fellow of Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, ACS, HKIE, IEE, and IEEE. Prof. Feng is Special Area Editor of IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, Editorial Board Advisor or member for The Visual Computer (International Journal of Computer Graphics), Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, Elsevier, Control Engineering Practice, Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, The International Journal of Image and Graphics (IJIG), and is the current Chairman of IFAC-TC-BIOMED.
Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz studied at the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow (Poland) from which he graduated (with honors) in 1971. Additionally, after receiving his degree in Automatic Control Engineering, he studied at the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical Academy in Krakow, as well as undertook studies in the field of mathematical and computer methods in economics. Since April 1971 he has done research in the areas of bio-cybernetics, automatic control engineering, and computer science. In 1975 he was awarded the Ph.D. degree, and in 1981 the degree of Doctor of Sciences (habilitation). In 1986 he became Professor and in 1991 the Full Professor at the AGH University of Science and Technology. He obtained 9 Honorary Doctor awards from Polish and foreign Universities. He has written and published over 600 scientific papers, which were published in prestigious Polish and foreign scientific journals as well as numerous conference presentations - both national and international. Prof. Tadeusiewicz also wrote over 70 scientific monographs and books, among them are highly popular textbooks (which had many reprints). He was supervisor of 54 doctoral thesis and reviewer of more than 200 doctoral thesis. In 2003 all Polish scientists elected him to be President of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society – Polish Chapter. In 1996, in universal and secret elections he was elected the Vice-Rector for Science of the AGH University of Science and Technology, and in January 1998 its Rector. He was re-elected 1999 for the term 1999 - 2002 and again 2002 for the term 2002-2005. In February 1998 Prof. Tadeusiewicz was elected the Corresponding Member of Polish Academy of Sciences and Arts (PAU), in February 2000 he become Foreigner Member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and in May 2002 he was elected for the grade Corresponding Member of Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).
Rudy Setiono received his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University, M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984, 1986, 1990, respectively. He is also a proud alumnus of St. Aloysius High School Bandung, class of 1981. He has been with the National University of Singapore since 1990 and he is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Computing. From December 2001 to July 2005 he was Vice Dean in charge of Undergraduate Affairs. From January 2007 to July 2007 he was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Economics and Applied Economics, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. His research interests include linear programming, nonlinear optimization, neural networks and data mining. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and served as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks from 2000 to 2005. Dr. Setiono's research work has been published in journals such as SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Operational Research Society, Management Science, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Systems Man and Cybernetics Part A and Part C, IEEE Computer, Proceedings of the IEEE, Neurocomputing, Neural Computation, Connection Science, and many others.
